There is an old evil that has plagued my people (the descendants of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade) over the course of our history. Ever since Moses came down from the mountain top with the Laws of our God, my people the Israelites have had their hands in guile and mischief of a variety for thousands of years. It has been our downfall and demise to immeasurable proportions.
You would think that during the 40 days and nights that God was with Moses and with the spiritual environment at a pinnacle height, the Israelites would have praised and worshipped the God of Israel for his majestic glory and merciful ways. And if not for that reason, just out of fear and fright they would have submitted themselves to be, and to do what was right in his sight, and obey the laws set before them. This experience alone should have been motivation enough. But the people of God as stiff-necked and impressionable as they are, Found it absolutely necessary that the worshipping of strange gods (Golden calf) and the utilization of divination and witchcraft was to be observed and practiced.
This is a mystery to me why Israel continues to put aside their God given birthright as one Fathered by the almighty spirit who created the heavens, the earth and everything upon them. To go and serve and worship familiar spirits and to entertain dead men and women? Allow me to bring a bit more clarity just so that all my dear visitors of shadrockporter.com can understand exactly what I am talking about.
Bare with me as I use a definition that was emailed to me a short while ago, it is not the most accurate explanation but one that can be accepted for communication purposes:
Obeah (sometimes spelled Obi , Obea or Obia ) is a term used in the West Indies to refer to folk magic , sorcery , and religious practices derived from West Africa , and specifically Igbo origin. [ 1 ] Obeah is similar to other African derived religions including Palo , Voodoo , Santería , rootwork, and most of all hoodoo . Obeah is practiced in Suriname , Jamaica , Trinidad and Tobago , Dominica , Guyana , Barbados , Grenada , Belize and other Caribbean countries.
It’s interesting how the descendants of ancient Israel today have been defined as being the originators of this vile form of worship as per the above definition. But I will take this opportunity to correct both the sender and the definition because as always where there is a student, there is need for a teacher. And this topic doesn’t require the use of a “Urim andThummim”.
Deuteronomy chapter 18 states the following: “9When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
As the scripture states the 7 tribes of Canaan were engulfed in the practices of iniquity before the Israelites had crossed the Jordan River. We were warned not to do as they did. But rather follow the laws statutes and commandments. This is another topic for another day, but let it be known that the iniquity of Obeah and all the other names it has acquired was not originated from the Israelites, but inadvisably practiced by them as stated before to their demise.
I have become accustomed to having every word that I say scrutinized and regurgitated to fit foreign agendas and motives. So let me explain why I say statements like “their demise” and not use the word “our”. I Shadrock Porter have never been a practitioner of obeah, voodoo or witchcraft. I have never been a freemason or a member of any secret society. My hands have no blood or iniquity stains upon them and I serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob only.
I taught a long time ago that there is a thin line between the lie and the truth in terms of spirituality. With the naked eye things that appear to be Godly are not, and similar instruments and methods that the side of the lie uses are also used to serve the God of Truth, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, for example the understanding of Urim andThummim. So when I say that Israelites of old and today have practiced iniquity to their demise I purposely did not include myself in this evil equation.
Sometime around 1998-99 a mid aged gentlemen, his wife and his family visited the Israelite Nation World Wide Ministries. After a few weeks of sitting in on our bible studies he wanted to have a private meeting with me in my office and said that I may not see him for a long while because he was within the court system. He then asked me if there
was anything that I could do to help him?
Now if you understand the sub culture within the Caribbean community you would be able to immediately understand that he was speaking of something ritualistic. I looked him in the eyes and saw probably a little bit more then he would have liked me to see. I then answered him but judging by his response he was expecting much more then the simple answer that I gave him. My answer was for him to pray, not to whoever he was praying to previously, but to the God of Israel that I introduced him to; and I will be praying for him also. And promised him that I will be seeing him again, he won’t be going to prison. His response to me was that’s it?
Now again “that’s it” has a lot to it, if you understand what he was expecting. Because I said nothing about animal sacrifice, libation, and other sacraments of the dead. My response to him was quite peculiar and simple, pray to the God of my fore fathers and let him do as he will for you. He returned to me sometime after and thanked me in front of the entire congregation, because his charges were dropped and he remained a free man. Now if I could go back to the moment when I looked in his eyes and say what I saw, it would be categorized as another one of Shadrock Porter's stories and wild imagination again. But as the gentleman and his family remained with the Israelite Nation World Wide Ministries and baptized and began to serve the God of truth; bit by bit stories of his past came up confirming that which I had already known.
Visits to obeah ladies, live animals in his basement, spiritual baths and cleansings and all manners of iniquity. Now the doctrine of the Israelites as said by Jesus the Christ is not necessarily for the whole, but for those that need a physician. So things of the past are exactly that, sins of the past, so this man became my brother in spirit because we had the same spiritual Father temporarily, even though the attractiveness of this world would welcome him back some time after.
Another disgusting experience that I had with those that worked iniquity, I woke up one morning and walked unto my porch and saw a special concoction poured out as a trap for me to step into. I won’t pay any more tribute to the evil people who did this act with further explanation. But it was intentionally poured to have a negative impact on me.
When I look back on my life I am humbled that the mighty God of Israel kept me away from being introduced to this evil and till this day I have been protected from those that wish to use it as a weapon against me.The false sense of power attained by working obeah, voodoo, Santeria, witchcraft etc always has a price. For starters the God of Israel forbids it and has no place for it in his ranks whatsoever. Then there is always the aftermath of initiating the employment of the dead to do favors for you. There are always steep ramifications and spiritual consequences beyond your control. When the time comes for you to honor your end of the bargain (in most cases the terms and timelines are never defined) the payment usually involves the negative wellbeing of your children and their lives.
If I could offer any advice to my people, giving in to the ways of the world is not worth it. Just as life is temporary so is all that is attained in it. It is better to be broke and lacking with God then to be prosperous and full of gifts from the devil. It is better to be hated and spat on for the truth then to be admired and honored for falsehoods and lies. Put away the wicked and cruel way of obeah and witchcraft and let the creator of all spirits deliver you. No matter how long the wait it is worth it. You will see!
